International Marble Institute (ISIM)
In June 2010 our board of advisory member and partner Paolo Marone was appointed as President of IS.I.M. The premier Italian organization working in technical and managerial training in the ornamental stone sector. He is therefore constantly involved in educational work in Italy and abroad as an expert and docent in Italian technologies for extracting, processing and utilizing stone materials and for stonemonument restoration.
In 1999 he was appointed training-program manager of Confindustria Marmomacchine (formerly the Italian Marmomacchine Association), a trade association for Italian stone-working technology makers and Italian producers of ornamental rocks, with headquarters in Corso Sempione 30,Milan.
In 2005 (up to February 2008) he was appointed director and board member of Assorestauro, the Italian Association for Architectural, Archeological and Artistic Restoration, a trade association in the sector of restoration technologies for monuments, with headquarters in Via Cenisio 49, Milan.
In 2006 he was appointed vice-president of the CITIES OF STONE Association, with headquartered in Verona.
In 2003 he was appointed single administrator for the MEC SUD srl – marble engineering company with headquarters in Rome and in Naples.
In 2008 he was appointed as scientific executive chief for SVIL MINES –FLORIANA Group in Katni – India.
In 2009 was appointed as technical processing supervisor chief for SINAI INTERNATIONAL Group in Egypt.
Apart from that, he has founded numerous vocational schools for Marble & Granite all over the world and has been Project leader for numerous projects such as: Italian International Commerce Ministry; TVET in Egypt; and National Educational System.
Italian Marmomacchine Association is the Italian association of manufacturers and users of machinery and equipment for working natural stone. An institutional and industrial reference for the Italian stone sector, Confindustria Marmomacchine - Assomarmomacchine directly represents over 170 Italian companies.
Confindustria Marmomacchine works continuously with the Italian Economic Development Ministry and with the Italian Trade Commission, for which it is the reference partner for official and promotional work conducted on behalf of the stone-working machinery and equipment sector.
Confindustria Marmomacchine is an active member of Confindustria (the General Confederation of Italian Industry). Being a part of the federation also strengthens its membership in Federmacchine.
Confindustria Marmomacchine holds Convenorship for WG11/CEN TC 151 for machinery and equipment for working natural stone.
MARMO MACCHINE MARK: The MARMO MACCHINE MARK is the associative trademark that Confindustria Marmomacchine issues to member companies as a hallmark for “stone-working machines” made solely in Italy.
Marble Institute of America (MIA)
For over seventy years, the Marble Institute of America (MIA) has served as the authoritative source of information on standards of natural stone workmanship and practice and the suitable application of natural stone products. Membership in the association is worldwide and includes nearly 2,000 natural stone producers, including exporters/importers, distributors/wholesalers,fabricators, finishers, installers, and industry
SUPPLIERS — all committed to the highest standards of workmanship and ethics. MIA publishes a monthly newsletter for members, operates an industry accreditation program for fabricators and installers, markets a range of technical publications and consumer pamphlets on natural stone, sponsors business and technical meetings and seminars on industry-related topics, provides educational programming for architects and construction specification professionals, presents a Natural Stone Scholarship Award (free trip to StonExpo) to future industry leaders and conducts the annual Pinnacle
Awards competitions recognizing outstanding natural stone projects worldwide.
MIA is also a leading promoter of stone usage in the commercial and residential marketplaces. MIA produces a number of consumer education materials on the use of natural stone and its proper care and maintenance.
